4.11 for liberty D/R?

Post by Phizinza » Fri Oct 27, 2006 7:08 pm

I have a Liberty dual range gearbox with a 3.9 diff in it. Can I fit a 4.11 diff in this gearbox, and where would I find one? Did the 4.11 come in the auto gearboxes?

I beleive most of the early Lib Autos were a 4.111 box.

You will need the Crown Wheel and Pinion shaft from a Jap Spec 4.11 turbo box and get all the gears from your pinion shaft swapped over.

Undo the nut on the end of the pinion shaft and the gears just slide off as one complete unit, slide the 4.11 pinion back through and put the nut back on, its that easy.

So we are looking at turbo jap import boxes, or early auto lib boxes for the 4.11... Thanks.

With the auto the crown sits on the opposite side and therefore can't be used with a manual pinion.

But could the parts out of the auto box go into the manual box, if I had the pinion and crown gear? Or do I have to get the diff gears out of a manual box?

Auto & Manual gearboxes are completely different.

Manual will fit manual. Auto will fit auto. They WILL NOT interchange.
