You should be safe in the national park carparks. Generally pretty good, there are, of course, bad areas. We can help out here.
I've personally never had any trouble anywhere in tassie, or the mainland.
Maybe fit a kill switch, or put a flashing LED where it can be seen if your worried, might stop the lesser felons.
A friend was travelling in convoy with another mate down the west coast, and one of them got a puncture. Apparently before they managed to change the tyre someone had pulled up and asked if he could have a door and some other tupperware, he even offered to help them get the mags off that he thought they were stealing!
The Walls of Jerusalem is meant to be fantastic. Good choice, would you like a hiking companion?

I have a kill switch, but I should also do a flashing led. I can also disconnect the ECU and hide it somewhere.
Hope it helps its a old car with lots of dents and visible rust so not like leaving a $60k+ 4wd is it? (tis anothr reason why i still have this sube.....)
Fellow hikers always welcome! got gear for overniters? I got a lot of new gear this time, threw away alot of old stuff! except the boots, there nicely worn in but getting fixed presently..
Yeh,WofJ should be fab,i read its more remote than Cradle Mtn/overland trek,so that why i gotta go there. Hope to do some great pics, now that i'm back to using film camera - medium format now.

havn't seen those books b4, but have so far maps Arthur rvr 100k, Cradle mt-Lake st clair,WofJ,
might get the pieman 100k if i see it.
and have the NATMAP 250k for Aus,which i'll be using for general moving map with GPS.
If i got time i'll scan the above maps, but is a fiddly job putting them together, calibrating, etc, etc but i'd be able to load it into the gps then.
