KM's in Cars

Post by BlackMale » Wed Jan 31, 2007 4:24 pm

While we are on the useless open slather threads, here is 1 that I have been thinking about this week.

How many km’s do you think you would cover in a car in a week?

I was thinking about not including the commute to work and run to the shops, wkd 4WDing n stuff however you could include. I was thinking about this as I have just received a NEW work car this week - read so new that the car has gone from the dealers to me. When I got it, it had less then 40km on the clock and in less then 1 day I had put more then 150km (hard city flogging kms) on it.

I am interested in the comparison as I know that some of us driving is a huge part of our jobs – and traditionally for my job this is not necessarily heard of – so I am just interested to see where this fits.

So, How many km’s (approx) do you think you would cover in a car in a week?
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

I am sure I don't drive as nearly as much as some - My most is 2000km in a week - am expected to drive witin a 400km radius for work. The 98 Daewoo Nubira was a trooper.

My VZ Commodore I got new in May 06 has 32,000 on it already

my first car, a 2002 AU fairmont was given to me with 36,000 kms on it at the beginning of 2004, by the end of 2004 it had well over 150,00kms

Ths SS commonwhore siting in the driveway was put there with under 50kms on it, and in the first year it did well over 100,xxx's as well...hehee, but i will include that in a year i will drive to adeialdie from perth a minimum of 4 times a year, and also head up to exmouth 2 or 3 times a year as well but that is usually in a landbruiser

so i think i can qualify as a heavy driver on the road, and this is NOT including the many many kms i do in work truck/ work ute every day of the week

i did a calculation of the amount of fuel i use in 12 months and its a scary figure...shall not be puttin up :P

Mine is the opposite, I would commute around 300-450kms per week, and the work ute would only do 20-30kms in a day if it was lucky on a good day around the refinery.
We still have 15y.o. utes that have under 100,000kms still on site! Hopefully gone soon with lease vehicles.

I go through approximately 1 tank of fuel a week in the Suby which is approx 400-450 kms (now that I think about it probably slightly further now the 27's are on).
The commute to work is hardly anything (7 minute drive) and most mornings I drive directly to a callout instead anyway.
