Post by Alex » Sun Feb 04, 2007 10:05 pm

following on from Chris's thread,

yea so much clutch is totally rooted, it is really really bad. im looking at getting one the week, and then hopefully getting it in before the powerlines trek!(which is this sunday for anyone playing at home)...oh and my BIG problem is

1) i am working all week(but perhaps pull a sicky!)
2) i'm going to rotto on saturday

any ideas peoples? cos i really dont wanna be towed home after the powerlines cruise

As always my driveway is open for clutch swaps on Subarus. Done 2 in the last few months (Mattims and Subarino).

You'll need coolant, distilled water, new clutch kit and a few hours.

I like the Tim's house idea, as he is the expert on technique.
I'm down for doing it one evening this week (go daylight savings!). I can bring the new clutch I have sitting here - havn't looked at it in much detail but I was told it was new and its litterally been driven up and down my driveway only.

Cannot beleive the clarity of my last post there, I was well over 0.05 when I wrote that.

Tomorrows good Alex. I forgot to add you'll need new manifold gaskets and / or goo. I might have some copper silicon sealant around if we get stuck.

Yeah Clint, I find with EA81 / EA82 vehicles it is heaps easier to pull the motor out. I've killed clutches heaps of times and way back when I did it for the first few times I was pulling the box out. Then one day doing an engine swap (EA81-EA81) I managed to have the motor out by myself and the new one in in a smidgen over an hour. Can do it under that now with a new clutch if I try hard enough.

Hmm this clutch may not be as new as I thought it was...but I really need someone who knows what a brand new EA82 clutch looks like to verify - I was told it was brand new and only been driven up and down driveways...
The pressure plate however looks like a pretty heavy duty one - springs look way beefier than a stock unit (got them sitting side by side in my boot atm).
I'll post pics tonight.
