replacing bearings in front diff

Post by chubby37 » Fri Feb 09, 2007 12:49 pm

i am 99% sure i have done a front diff bearing in my ej22 auto.any ideas on how to pull it appart would be great.i,m unsure how to get the front diff from the auto trans.does the diff just come appart from the trans once the bolts are undone????i know once it is sepperated from the trans it has to be opened to access the diff and bearings.does anything in the drive from the trans to the diff lock them togeather???

Did one a few nights ago.

drop the diff oil, undo all the bolts on the front diff housing and it will come apart with a few taps of your hammer of choice..

There is alot involved in replacing the bearings though. You would haveb to re-shim the whole front diff. Not an easy (or cheap) job from what i can gather.
