Upgrading 95 Liberty 2.2 Motor
Upgrading 95 Liberty 2.2 Motor
Does anyone know if a 2.5Lt will fit straight into a 95 liberty AWD with a 2.2Lt. What mods are required and where can I get one from???

It is a direct bolt in. That is the engine mounts and gearbox will all bolt up as per standard. The only issue is with the ECU running it. That is a doubtful factor. I don't know if it will work as it should.
Sure the computer will run it, I just don't know how successfully. The issues that I am thinking of is with the air flow metre. It will read that there is more air flowing at the same amount of revs as with the 2.2. That is the bit I don't know what the computer will think.
The air flow metres work on a temperature reading. The more air flow of the 2.5 will make it read cooler for the same amount of revs as the 2.2. In theory it should be a value of 12-14% cooler which I believe should be fine when you take in to account winter temps compared to summer. 8 degrees winter at times compared to 30degrees+ in summer.
Bit of an expensive gamble on a theory though. I don't know any one that has actually done it. I know plenty that I have talked about it with and we are all of the same belief, that it will work.

You might also consider that this is not much of an upgrade at all, might not be worth the trouble.
