My new spare wheel holder

Post by Alex » Sun May 20, 2007 12:26 pm

just as i thought my wagon was getting there, there is yet another mod successfully completed on my "wank" mobile

this spare wheel carrier was originally custom made my Mike(suba) for his MY wagon, i think it has passed through afew hands since then, and now i have it. Thanks to ChriSTIan who i bought it off, and D3v1l Dave for doing the necessary cutting and welding to get it to fit(very very good welds they are too!)

we were testing strength by standing on it(and stomping), it looks like the tow bar will break off before the carrier does!

the only thing i am a little bit worried about is my pretty massive loss of departure angle(nothing a grinder or oxy can't handle though!)

Wow looks great! It's been so long since I saw it on Mike's old wagon I'd forgotten what it looked like.

no, i mean taking abit more off those huge brackets whole are welded to the tow bar, without making it structurally unsafe!

Yeah. Departcher angle pfft...I think whatever rocks etc you hit with those tough brackets will get instantly turned into gravel anyway hehe.

Good stuff guys... looks tops.

Alex... Fortunatly for you most the things you go over don't require a good depature angle or a lift kit for that matter, so i wouldn't worry too much about that. LOL

it doesnt bolt up underneath...its just welded directly onto the towbar, u can see the last photo there welded to the supporting braket for the towbar, and the inner side ias been welded to the bar, needs some further reinforcing, but for the time being its not comming off:D
no more subarus
