Gen III Outback CV Joints
Can anyone tell me if EJ25 Outback front CV joints will fit my H6 Outback?
Subaru wants over $600 for them, and they are listed as different for the CV joint suppliers who tell me there are none available and so I would need to provide the car until they rebuilt the CV already there, and I don't have time to take the car off the road.
Would like to be able to just get a 2.5 one and use that!
Thanks

Dave,
The supplier that Brett uses is the one that wants me to send the CV to them as the book shows different ones.
Local place wanted to know if my H6 was manual or auto, I told him that it doesn't matter and he said that the book said there is a difference, I told him if he can't read the book right I wasn't spending my money there. Probably a bit brash I know.... The H6 doesn't come in manual does it???

Sunspares have a few H6 Gen 3's if you needed a shaft.
I would say the only way it would be different to an EJ25 shaft would be either in joint size(which wouldn't matter) or it possibly uses the newer male inner shafts. If it has the new inners it will not have rollpins so is pretty easy to spot.

Yes all Gen 3 have the tone wheel on the CV afaik. Impreza and Forester also followed suit in around 2000. I have replaced the front hubs and shafts on a gen 3 with early WRX when doing a turbo conversion and the ABS ecu was happy the old tone wheels so despite the design change thay are still doing the same job.
I would say that there would be just an outer CV size difference which makes no discernible difference with std lowish powered cars.
