Happened to me once - it turned out to be faulty regulator (after 2 days ignoring it it went up to 17volts as it went off the voltage gauge and checked out whoa so i disconnected it and run off battery to auto electrician's) - I cannot remember how much, it was about 4 yrs ago and wasn't Subaru but it shows similar symptoms.

Is this a servicable item?jono wrote:Didn't someone suggest voltage regulator (think that is correct term) on back of the DASH. pull dash out and on the board top left is a yellow thingy all on its own
My low beams tend to do this little dimmer thing from time to time, sometimes i wonder if they're actually going to turn off and not come back on... fun times! Doesn't do it on highbeams either, only low beams.
Cheers
had same problem with my first L-series post tacho dash conversion.
Everyone (mates, none of them auto-electrians) said after 10 seconds of careful consideration, 'bad earth' like they knew what they were talking about...
Put up with it for a while, hoping it would go away. It didn't
In the end, ran an earth lead from the instrutment cluster to car. Tacho problem fixed...'they' were right.
D'oh
