at the timing maybe.
or the fuel is it actually being pumped in to cylinders

check the spark to
if u got a spare plug take a lead off then shove the plug into it and rest it against somwhere then crank it and see if its sparking.

at work we have a tester that slots into the fuel injector connectors and flashes with each pulse so i dunno how to test them without somethign like that
maybe a test light connected up then hold it on and get somone to crank it for u

those wuld be the three first things id try starting with spark, fuel see if its pulsing, then the timing if theyre both ok

and im guessing the injectors wuldnt eb the cause as i cnat see all 4 being completely blocked

otherwise something to do with the ECU maybe not functioning right which wuld be out of my league i dont no nethign botu them

wt does the check engine light do when u turn the ignition on? is that wt u said keeps on flashing?

edit - if its flashing constantly doestn that mean the Test and Read connector thingos are connected up and they shuldnt be

Hope you didn't do what we done, align the timing marks on the cam pulleys with the piston mark on the crank.. :???:

Why put piston marks on the cam pulleys anyhow?? Only need TDC on the crank really. Ok, we were just stupid and Subaru done nothing wrong.

Yeah i wish someone would do an awesome write up with pics on the timiing belts for ej22s....

I have done them successfully twice... i guess by pure luck... 3rd time was a balls up... and it kept doing exactly what your describing... took someone who knew what they were doing to fix it... 10 minutes later everything was sweet.

Will, the timing is set off the notch in the "star" and not off the arrow isn't it?

Yeah but to pick up an engine fault it needs to start. So yeah u can check the codes but it's not going to tell u why it isn't starting now... just anything that was wrong last time it was started... or nothing at all if the Battery or ECU has been dissconected for a bit.
