big clunk in rear wen depress and release clutch fast

Post by slipps » Tue Aug 07, 2007 11:38 pm

in my 1984 1800 wags , its runs an ej20t and 5 speed from an 1991 rs liberty.
from wat ive been told it has liberty centers inside the old subaru housing in the rear diff , but every so often i get a big clunk in rear wen depress and release clutch , the clutch only takes up in the first 2-3 centermeters from the floor witch is annoying, so its hard to feather(when needed).

any info appreciated.

also who should i see for , driveline and engine specialist near brisbane gold coast.

cheers

Rear diff mounts... i would check them... sounds like the diff is bashing up and down in the rear. On that year car... if they have never been replaced they would definately be on there way out now.
