New system advice
I have been advised that I have a blocked catalytic converter and because of this I see that I have several options.
Car is an 1985 L series tourer running a standard JDM-EA82turbo with a 2'' mild steel system all the way, has a few dents and a bit of corrosion.
Options:
1 Remove cat and replace with new one or just straight through pipe.
2 Use this chance to renew entire system in mild steel
3 As above but in stainless
Have been quoted 350 for turbo back including labour for a mild steel system without a cat. Any idea what difference in price I am looking at for the same in stainless? Are the benefits worth the cost? I don't have money to burn but I have spent plenty of time and money on the car and don't see myself quitting it in the next few years.

how positive wuld u be and who told u the cat is blocked?
i wuld think that if its blocked then when u try n rev ur engine it will act liek an exhaust brake that trucks have and immediately bring the revs back down
i say take cat off and bash otu the insides then put it back (makes the cops think u still ahve oen)

hmmm not sure how the law about cat converters wuld work on a 1985 (maybe if it was built 84 but lol)
if u were to get a new system id go 2.5 inch stainless steel tubo back
(not that i no wt the difference is between mild steel etc) as 2.5 inch is wat "SubaFury" runs and isnt that a good size for them

how much boost are you running? or how stock is the setup?
you dont need a cat, mine is 85 and i have a 3" turbo back system with a waste gate Dump pipe and a 3" turbo muffler, straight through i believe, not loud when cruising but u give it the berries and it pipes up
cost dunno but my system works great and sounds good as well (also get a Flex joint at the bottom of the dump pipe, definatly a good idea
