ea82 mpfi ignition timing
ea82 mpfi ignition timing
just wondering if any body knows how to set ignition timing i know it has to be set 20deg but according to manual i need a test mode connector to do this ??? thanku for any replys

Look under the dash, there should be 2 sets of connectors.
A green pair (2 pin T shape plugs) and a black pair (just single pin)
Connect the green pair together to check timing.

the turbo is 20 but not n/a
test mode connector to check timing? I did not know that ! I have not done that either ?! I did however find the green bridge test coonectors for ecu 3 plug ecu diagnostic mode only when i dropped the fuse box - it was tucked up behind and maybe never used before !!

If your car is an 88 or newer, also known as hotwire or 4 plug, you should connect the green connectors and your timing will be 20deg, turbo or na.
If it is a 85-87, it will probably be 8deg na, 20deg on turbo. But seeing as these models dont have a timing map, you should disconnect the vac line to the dizzy
Mine is an 89 model, on the underside of my bonnet, it tells my to connect the test mode connectors. (ie. to lock the timing static and ignore the timing maps)
