L Series parts on a MY?
Hi all,
lookin for some parts for the MY and have been offered an L Series cheap. Will running gear, windscreen, suspension and minor interior bits like window winders/door handles/arm rests fit? Also the guy who owns it tells me it is an AWD. Does that mean it is a constant 4WD or is it the same as the MY (FWD/4WD)? Thanks.
Sandi.

It is possible that it could be an AWD gearbox but not likely as these are pretty rare.
You can get front control arms and hubs and gearbox to fit with some modification.
Window winders and door handles etc will be different, might be some way to retro-fit them.
Don't think the windscreen will fit, the cars are pretty different body shapes.

If it's under $300 cheap I would grab it.
Using the interior light from an L series was one of the best mods I did to my MY.
You can use the carb to gain auto choke, may need the intake manifold too.
As Andrew said you can use the control arms and hubs to improve handling.
And you can use the gearbox to gain 5th gear, get the centre console too to suit the gear levers.
The wheels will also fit and so will the starter motor, no gain here but it's always good to have spares.

There is only probably 2 parts that will fit with out some pretty major sorta mods and thats the interior light and the rear diff (if the ratio is the same).
If your not mechanical and don't really plan on modifying the car much then there is no real point getting it. However if the gear box is infact AWD it could have some good rea-sale value.

Hi all, thanks for the advice, I don't think I will bother. I have too many other broken things to fix (2 landcruisers, a boat and 3 motor bikes!!)before I worry about modifying the one that is at least going!! hehe I just thought if I could use it for parts if and when I need them it would be worth getting.
Matatak you are very funny!!!
