L Series 3sp auto band adjust ????

Post by steptoe » Wed Oct 10, 2007 12:55 am

does anyone know exactly where to find the band adjustment on L series 3 speed auto, and can describe in words for me. I have manuals but it ain't clear which 1/4 square plug is the adjuster. I do have a inch pound torque wrench and the specs of 9in/lbs (think) and back off two turns, but WHERE ???

You can go into Subaru and ask for the filter for the series 1 liberty autos. its a kit for about $20 with filter and lines.

They are an inline filter retro fit to the first series AWD autos so to fit to a 3 speed auto do the same as instructions and tap into the fluid line to the radiator and find a suitable mounting spot.

OK , ta. Finally found some service notes, still not clear as to replace the drain mesh. It is actually running quite well now without me fiddling. I just need to back off a bit on accelerating to get it to change up. On slight power it will shift to 2 , then top with no trouble Brakes well on held gears down hill and mountains too.

Sounds like your valve body needs a clean out

it is getting better as i drive it (done 600km in the week) but can still hang on to 2nd. Valve body brings back memories of this red hydraulic oil dripping everywhere from above and going up me sleeves and all over the place. Think a nulon treatment might be in orde to soften seals up

Found me torque converter to flex plate bolts came loose coz i no use thread locker - started to make a ting ting noise
