How much pressure should i be expecting after the super charger... seams the more i rev it the more pressure... i thought the pressure was meant to stay the same no matter what RPM.

Dave

Dave the pressure is relative to the intake air flow, eg: in theory it should provide 6 psi above the normal intake airflow, higher revs=more air flow=more pressure required to maintain that 6 psi.

Hope that makes sense.

I have got the throttle body on the wrong side of the Super charger... which could have ended very badly.

Worked out what to do to change it without it looking bad or doing dodgy stuff. Saturday should be the big day. Really isn;t too much to do what i need to do... i also have a plan how to make it like real SMIKO!

with the throttle body after the supercharger, when the engine is idling (butterfly closed) the supercharger is still trying to ram all it's air in. Thats why the charger was jamming up, skidding on its belt, and blowing the pipes apart.

Throttle body before the supercharger controls the air going in, which in turn controls the forced air comming out and going into the manifold.

I *think* thats it :)

Yeah thats the ticket. I know it sounds like a pain to change but it will be easy... parts came with the SC kit when i got it.

hmmm yer i get that part i did wonder first off wat wuld happen with the air going nowhere (obviously not good lol)

but that doesnt answer this part -
Matatak wrote: dont u need it after to creat the vacuum in the manifold when u try n press ur brakes?
does it need fittings between the Throttle body and the Charger for the brake booster to work when he tries braking.

im also interested to know how ur relocating the Throttle body Dave :p

Are you getting some shiny bits and getting alex to polish them for you? :p
Matatak wrote:dont u need it after to creat the vacuum in the manifold when u try n press ur brakes?
Maybe the vacuum could be taken before the charger as well (but after throttle body). I'm sure there'll be some vacuum behind the throttle body when the charger is trying to suck air in...

Dunno if this is the case but it makes sense to me (but i don't have a supercharger or a degree/good knowledge of physics)

Cheers

couldn't you just plumb a bov, which should stop the hoses blowing off as the throttle closes?

It's pretty complicated Cam... so ya can;t exactly do that.

Update: IT'S RUNNING!!!!

Just need to remount and stuff about with the accelerator cable and some mild wiring and it will be ready for a test drive. Im guessing i will get to drive it about lunch time tomorrow.

Big thanks to Devil Dave for coming over today... helped me to keep on trucking on with it when i was close to giving up for the weekend. I had some dramas with hoses calapsing under vacume this time... we got it sorted though.
