If it sounds like a big end it generally is. It will more than likely be number 4 big end if thats what it is. Just do a check around the engine to make sure you havent picked up something by driving over it and also check to see the it isnt an idler roller in the cam belt area.
is anybody willing to lend me some space so i can pull my engine out and let the car sit there?? i have no space at home and i NEED to get my car back on the road ASAP
i believe we are gonna tow the car to my place pull the engine out then tow it back to his house i could b wrong only time will tell how much damage has been done
The New Owner Of hatchie
A 00 outback for doner car
2 door wrx being restored
If its thrown a rod the crank journal may be in need of serious work but i would check really well so see if it hasnt tried to poke out through the block. I knows that if you really want to know the engine in your car you should always fix the engine that you have but you may find it a cheaper and more convienient alternative to just put in a second hand engine from a wreckers and then if need be rebuild your original motor. That way should you want to you can put in the best bits your money can buy
thats the plan...rex now resided under the car cover in the driveway....will be towed to tristans house today and rip motor out...and the fun begins...its just a ***** caus its my only car atm and im out of money completely
**** happens i suppose
gonna buld a bulleit proof motor out of this one....so it never happens again
How bullet proof do you want it? I can give you a contact, although it is here in Qld, to make the block the same as my 2.5. Capable of 25psi all day every day. Diesel liners, closed deck, forgies, tension bore etc. Cost me $2500 just for the block and bottom end plus another $900 for pistons.
but i already have contacts here that will do it cheap cheap
forgies in the form of cosworth pistons and rods will cost me $1200 anmd the block work will cost me around $1400 odd....all thanx to a very good mate and his very good mate capable of 30 pounds all day every day
2 x crank rods are cracked
all the big end bearings
all the little end bearings
BENT crank shaft (60 thou)
possibly a bend in the block but hopefully not
looks like im up for a megga rebulid, and as of this point i wont be doing the bottom end..its now at a mate of mines shop and he will redo the bottom end for me and ill finish off the top end and all the add ons
got hold of some cosworth forged pistons for $1380 today they are going in
