Where did your house influence start?

Post by Ben » Thu Nov 15, 2007 9:09 pm

No, not where you live :P House MUSIC! It's what we older generation call dance music :P

Was just hooning around youtube and came across a music vid that pretty much began my interest in Trance/Acid House music. One night listening to Michael Tun doing the 'Request Fest' on Triple J during 1995 when I was doing my HSC, someone requested a song by 'Aphex Twin' called 'Donkey Rhubarb', Pretty sweet I thought, a few weeks later I saw some Apex Twin videos on Rage.

Here is Donkey Rhubarb
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tatccHVfuhA

And here is one called 'Come to Daddy'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Az_7U0-cK0

trippy stuff for the mid 90's, released originally on 12" vinyl only (that's big black CD's for the kids )

This lead me of course to dance clubs and subwoofers

What song/artist do you attribute your love of dance music to?

Well my first was The Chemical Brothers, this is techno though.
and I've recently moved into more drum 'n' Bass stuff,
and Infected Mushroom are my real taste in Trance, apart from "Music for the Gilted Generation - The Prodigy"

For the Prodigy fans, chase up a copy of 'Experience' It's their first release, and the first Prodigy album I bought. Is truly an awesome piece of work!

Yes the Prodigy was definitely an influence toward my 'dance' music like, but i would have to say that The Artfull Dodger was my field.

I do prefer UK House / 2Step / UK Garage / Garage.

Some of the older stuff is way different to the current, and I can not remember all the names however some of you will recall things like Left Field, Hockus Pockus and their song Hears Jonny,

I am aware/listen own the all of the above mentioned however have to be in the right mood… and that does not happen toooo often anymore.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

this is the exact song that got me into the 'dance/techno' stuff. Ministry of sound stuff, and more recently pendulum and other dnb

ministry stuff is more dance tunes.

although its not true DnB, the crystal method, daft punk, etc, and for the old school real DnB try getting the album jungle sound gold. It has abit of pendulum, DJ fresh, Baron, Adam F and afew others, its a sssik album. lol

im sure D3v1l and 4muff have afew more to add ;)
