2001-2002 Outback Fuel Consumption
2001-2002 Outback Fuel Consumption
Hi All
Looking for some information before I make a purchase.
Can anyone tell me what fuel consumption they are getting out of their 2001-2 Outback 2.5L
Redbook says (http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/ve ... p?id=97975)
Fuel Consumption Urban 10L/100km
Fuel Consumption Extra Urban 8.2L/100km
but I went to go and see one yesterday and based on what the guy said I calculated 12l / 100
Your info will be helpful
thanks in advance

I don't know about the new model, but my 1999 outback (2.5L, 5 speed manual) gets 10.183L/100Km. That's based on how far I go between fillups and how much I put in the tank (ie: how much I've used since last time) averaged over a few months. I also worked out that it costs me about 12c/Km with the current petrol prices. So it costs me just over $5 to get to work and back! hehe.
I would assume that the new model H4 would get the same, if not better, fuel consumption. The 6 would burn a bit more, of course.

Yeah thats how I calculate my fuel consumption. I have a v6 tribute that I am trying to replace because of the consumption. Its chewing 16l/100.
The outbacks I am looking at is just before the new shape release, and all the specs say around 10l, so wanted to make sure through feedback.
Thanks again

I average about 8.6L/100km (700km from 60L) out of my 2.5L 5MT '02 Outback (close enough to stock but with 220,000km's on the clock) just towed a 600-800kg trailer
from Wollongong, up Macquire Pass (I love that road
), on to the Hume, M7 and Pacific Hwy to Coffs Harbour and only lost 50km out of my 60L 9.2L/100km, I was quite impressed.
That being said, when I first got my Outback and drove it like I needed to drive my old MY (ie: all the way to redline) it used 20L/100km of Optimax when it cost $1.65/L, scared the hell out of me.
Jordan.

This was from a full tank, accelerating gently. I think it was the drag from the trailer as well as the weight, but I'm sure I was close to the maximum weight subaru advises... hehe
(actually it was more like 150km to a half tank, before I filled up just in case there weren't any petrol stations in the next 150km, but yeah. Effectively 300km/tank. )
The best I've gotten is with a nearly empty car (two passengers), and no trailer. That worked out to a good 650km/tank or so, on gravel roads!
