Wiring diagram needed
Wiring diagram needed
I am after a factory air-con wiring diagram. Time to get serious about my non functioning A/C before a forecast 36deg day next weekend.

From my other thread, quoting the last owner of my car:
where the in dash switch leads to,
where the fan switch in the dash goes to,
where (if any) thermostats get their signals from,
etc,etc
Thanks.
Just need to know:Gremlins wrote:my memory of the aircon side of things is not real good, but the aircon wiring in your car is stock standard australian delivered touring wagon wiring. It is a seperate wiring loom as the vehicles at the time were sold with airconditioning as an option.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the A/C switch circuit of a 91 L series wagon? My switch has no power getting to it and I think it is my heater fan switch playing up, as when it was working it would only work when the heater fan was turned on and I was wondering about hot wiring 12 volts direct to my A/C switch.
I have a Gregorys, No. 501, but it does not have a wiring diagram in it that shows A/C.
Any help appreciated.

Dunno, looks original but not familiar with ADM? Above the glove box, near the relay, it has a chrome knob like an adjustment for the T/stat? Does that help?
Fan working O/K, so I think the resistor is good.Only the A/C wont turn on, and no power to the A/C switch.
Also tried the two wires at the high/low pressure cutout switch joined together and did nuthin either.

take a pic of the engine bay and the two body plugs on top of the firewall. that will tell me.
can you manually fire the compressor? IE +12v to the compressor coil (via a fuse of course.) if so track back from there. most of those looped the COMP via the limit switches then to a thermoswitch on the inside core (to stop freezing of the core.) so I would start there. jumper the inner one as well as the low/high limit and check the COMP control lead with a meter (D/C the compressor.) and if it shows up there then the inside switch is buggered..
there is a work around for it but I'll get to that once you have done the above.

Thanks Chris, I will take some pics tomorrow hopefully, and get back to you after I have tried all of the above.
Appreciate your help, espec as it looks like you have got enough to do ATM with that new beast of yours !
BTW, gotta love that spare, Original Jap issue?

Done what you suggested Chris and it looks like the switch is no good.
Got pics for you, but not sure how to attach.
Since I can hotwire the Comp, any reason y I cant just run a new power feed to the comp through a new switch?
Oh, and according to the label behind the glove box it is Prestige Auto air brand.

can't permanently wire the compressor on.. coil will freeze up. do this:
find a 96 inpreza and grab the evap switch off it - it is a little black box with 3 wires going into it. grab the harness also.
that has 3 wires on it.
one goes to your switch the next to ground and the third to a relay. that relay will power the compressor. the relay output is +ve so you will have to wire accordingly. from there unplug the old switch and plug it into the relay in this fashion:
30- supply
87 - compressor
86- - gnd
85 - EVAP switch
that will cycle the compressor on/off.
problems - ask
