Forged internals for a EA81?
I chasing everyones thoughts on forged internals for a EA81? Are they worth it or should i just use standard ones? or is better to go to 1600 pistons? Does anyone have any for sale?
It is to go into my Brumby with Dual port heads, lumpy cam, 32/36 Weber, 2" exhaust.
I'm not interested in upgrading to an EJ i like my trusty EA81 because it is simple and no timing belts, etc to worry about (not that i don't know how to do them).

I thought about the EA81T but they are hard to come by and i don't like the lag... (not that they have much) I may be wrong but somewhere i read that you could but 1600 pistons to raise the compression? I might have to go to standard pistons.....

lag ?? what's that ? Something I was expecting to experience with my EA82T GLTA but nah, not yet (why I selected the smaller up pipe outlet diameter of 39mm).
Still think it may not be too hard to turbo a std EA81 using 82 crossover pipe. Surely the structure of a 3 bearing mains is going to be the limiting factor before toughened internals ? I agree with your like for simplicitEA 81 and gotta say I appreciate the quieter EA82T to my rattler EA81

That's what I've read also - should raise c/r to 9.1:1 from memory.
Dean.
