AHA! I found it!

Post by Thalass » Fri Dec 14, 2007 4:23 pm

I found this in a magazine at work last week, before the WA bbq. I couldn't remember the name of it, and when I got back to work on tuesday I couldn't find the magazine. But now I've found them!

I think these would be awesome on a subaru! http://www.mattracks.com/

Good for sand or snow, I'd say! :p

The max speed is about 60km/h, so it's no good for on-road use. But it'd be great in the sand... Imagine the hatchie with those! hahaha

No time like the present to start saving up. I don't think Hatchie will like being speed limited to 60 though.

They claim that after the first installation, it's just a matter of an hour to put them on, the same as if you were changing your tyres or something. Though you might not have enough room for all four in that little blue thing. heh.

Hatchie as a vehicle or just the supercharger???
Thalass wrote:Though you might not have enough room for all four in that little blue thing. heh.
Easy big fella. Don't let the mighty Hatchie hear you calling it "that little blue thing"...

Yeah, those things look insane. Jono could probabily knock you up a set if you've got enough busted CVs - I'm sure the collective WA crew would have enough busted CVs to even make a spare!

I don't doubt that Jonno would already have a set in his shed some where.

And for only something like $10000 USD you can have a set.. The gearing is like driving on a 14-15" OD tyre. Was talked about on USMB about 2 years ago. Very cool if you live in the right place (where there are no roads) and you have some spare cash.

Over at USMB someone found this.
http://break.com/index/sweet-subaru-wit ... racks.html

Finally we get to see them on a Subaru. But not doing anything great. Oh well, someone went to the expense. I think they are ATV ones, thats how to are small enough to fit a Subaru

Seen them on some Toyotas in the snowfields in NSW. Great extra flotation for sand/mud/snow, but do add a considerable weight to the vehicle and raise the centre of gravity (so roll easier). I believe they are not road-legal here yet. You do have to replace the track segments from time to time when worn.
