Fitting Ej25 Into Gen1 Lib

Post by chriSTIan » Sun Dec 30, 2007 8:38 pm

Hi
I want to know if any one has fitted an ej25 into a gen1 liberty.
I have a 2000 single cam gen3 engine,i also have the harness and ecu.
Mechanically it will fit straight in,my concern is with the wiring, ecu etc...
All input appreciated.

I know it can be done... I dunno if EJ25 from 3rd Gen has 4 or 8 bolts to attach gearbox?
Cheers

I'm confused is it a 2.5 or a 2.0.Just make sure if it is a quad cam the belts have been done before it goes in.You don't want it to spin a belt. Also that the head gaskets have been done,They do have a habit of going.

The loom just wont throw in and your done. The post gen1s had an extra wire outlet in the engine bay and the plugs to the rear harness are different but if you have the entire wiring harness then you can change the door looms to suit. The arial wires are on the opposite sides to the earlier model too so you have to back pick that and re run it. The plugs to the rear lights and roof are also different. I have done late model into early and it is pretty straight forward and worth the effort. You will have to do a bit of soldering and swapping of plugs.
