98 Octane in Libya is .....

Post by steptoe » Wed Jan 09, 2008 9:21 pm

just seven cents a litre, or 7/100 of a Libyan Dinar

92 cents Australian buys a Libyan Dinar

Don't that make ya sick !?

Source is from a Libyan lawyer (should we believe him?) who tells me people don't drive around until the tank is nearly dry like he sees here - tanks are nearly always full.

I believe it is a similar price in Turkmenistan, oil/gas rich nations and an good subsidies on stuff for their peoples.

Yes, but our standard of living is a lot higher and our head of state doesn't name one of the days of the week after himself and one after his mother. Oh, and we are relatively free to do and say whatever we like and travel wherever we like. :)

Mind you, a 700km flight between to cities costs $1.60 in Turkmenistan if your a citizen, $14 if a foreigner.

I'd believe him as that is about the 4th time I have heard that in the last two months.

Dam Man i'm loving that...

Just remember though that you also have to get the fuel to this country, and not that I am that good at geography, we are a long way away and someone has to cover the cost of the freight.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

Oh...no tax department either. They all hate OS postings in places that do have tax system - more paperwork to get their rebates
