Weekend's work
Hi ho everyone...
The East Coast was blessed with 25mm of rain on saturday, allowing me a day in the shed.
I got busy laminating and rivetting.
Sikkaflex should sponser me for this build- I am into my 10th tube....
Remember this is getting a plastic layer over it of either 12mm or 16mm thickness, countersunk headed bolts holding it down.
Anyway after 170 odd rivets and a lot of stretching, bending and peening..
I got this...

Then overlapped another going forward..

It is very strong, I have had two big blokes standing and jumping on it.

EJ22 Dual range AWD lifted, widened and much happier now thanks very much.
1991 L Series wagon, white and perfectly normal apart from the ticking, no I think that is normal.
Jet boat..webbered EA81 with a hybrid tin dish welded and glued to it.

Ticking along with the list
Got a few few things ticked off the list...
Continued forward with the armour plating of the hull, now snakeskinning with overlapping plates.

Had to race back to work and missed the hardware store...ran out of rivets and sikka (again).
Bugger.
So..started making the transom plate from 6mm checkerplate alloy

You can see the gasket and plate it will sandwich between.

More
Then I attacked the deep arse EJ sump, which was preventing me getting the engine very low in the boat.

I carefully chopped it in two, 60mm down from the facing surface.
I highly reccomend these wheels, very thin but great performing at cutting alloy or steel.

Looking at how I was going to weld the base on the new short sump...I had a revelation...and ditched the bits.

A bit of re-plumbing for the pick up and drains..how about a complete remote sump.........

I got one (jigsaw) but it is a bit of a pain cutting alloy especially in a constant curve. This just made it easier.
Oil resovior is very likely to be an old stainless steel fire extinguisher, it is 15 litres and nice and shiny.
Tig tig with a few barbed fittings and I believe Bob is shagging my Auntie.

Brenny - I think I will give the inlet a crack as it looks in that photo.
Tig welding the adapter to the to of it and tapping studs into it for the Weber.
Sort of a a "slant draught" set up neither down nor side...
It should fit nicely under the centre console lid.
Stuart - the water situation was very dire there for a while and I gave up drinking it in favor of Red wine.
To help the farmers you know.
Welding..hmm well I am not showing you anything yet, the magic blue light is a tricky one.
Still learning on non vital scrappy bits.

Good point, Point.
It may need levelling as much as possible, then the float may have to be modded.
(IE Bent)
Righteo then..an update.
Cut out the new ribs where the seats used to be, to bring the old floor ribs up to the gun'ail...

Chopped out the old shelf that some Nuff Nuff Wally had welded in there..cracking all around the welds repeatedly by the looks of the 3 or so repairs done.
New ribs will cover this and re plating over the damage.

Had a good lash at welding up the rib cuts..results look better after grinding!!

this is my best one so far...

This is what the scoreboard says..

Chopped some new ribs for the aft end which will mount the intake on...

Did some more 'reshaping'...

Established a few known points in regards to square and even...

and if you are ever short on inspiration, try this marvelous gadget from the makers of a famous Irish Stout...
