There seem to be a disproportionate amount of Subaru with motors features different to what they should have (or had originally) for sale on eBay, so far this week I've seen a 1991 Liberty with a quad cam 2.5L motor and another that was a 2.0i model. I emailed them and they said that that is what they are. Hmmmm.

Some will be conversions,
but,
I found an 93 Impreza LX that was listed as 2.2l,
even though they listed the engine number as Ej16....
