TCU Location

Could someone tell me where the Transmission control unit is located on a 97 outback. Thankyou:)

full NSW rego. 270liters diesel. 140liters of water. airide suspension on front axle.
self contained for a week with 6 adults. Island cab was cut and narrowed 300mm to fit the chassis.
Great fun off road. Now lives in FIJI as a mobile dentists truck.

ecu if it is a bg5 version. mine is separate and it on the steering column.

as do I. its my understanding that there were two versions of the car BG5A & B. the one I used for my car was a BG5A and it had a separate TCU located at the steering column - box had 3 black plugs.

the B version stuck all of it in the main ECU.

Yeah as Chris said the TCU was part of the ECU in the 97-99 series they have a single white plug with a bolt holding it to the loom.

Yep under the foot rest if you have a separate TCU (you wont) its under the dash above the accelerator pedal.
