Tractor engines...?

Post by Phizinza » Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:37 pm

Right. So I've been looking for a while now (a couple hours on the net over a couple of weeks) for tractor diesel engines.
I want a 700 to 1000cc 3cyl. Would like to turbo it or get one turbo'd. Its for a suzuki project. The problem is I just can't find anything for a decent price. Like theres something on ebay for like $2600. And every 3cyl tractor I've seen on there goes for $2000+ (even 40yo ones!!)
I found a wrecker in McLaren Vale which is near me and I'll give them a ring. All others I could find in SA were like Naracoorte or on the Eyre Peninsula which is just to far to go. I was hoping for something in the range of $300 to $700 and maybe needing little work..

So the question to tractor knowledgers is: Are these little buggers really that expensive? And wheres a good place to look for second hand engines?

Been on the lookout myself for a small diesel engine for a project for a while and cant find the perfect one. Look for engines off small rotary hoes or ones used as power packs and yes they are not cheap
