Suby Wan Kenobi orderd the springs for me I didn't tell him which one's I wanted so that's what I ended up with I don't know if kings are better then Pedders, I'll just have to wait and see how they go.

I was put on to these tyres by daza, they were advertised on the GTrydaz forum.

The libs ready,

rear engine seal is fixed, while the gearbox was out checked the clutch it had to be replaced so a new clutch went in,

the a/t tyres are on and the wheel alignment has been done,

the only thing I didn't do was put the outback trailing arm mounts on,

and the exhust is knocking so I'll have to get that looked at. :(

Suby Wan should be able to help me out there.:)

Is that just springs doing the lift? I looked at past thread posts, so I guess so? Reason i'm a bit querying on it is I have recently done the raised Kings (as in the Kings catalog) and new KYBs in the OBW, it definitely didn't lift it like what your showing.......:???:. Does this mean the pedders are a higher spring? Personally i avoid anything Pedders due to bad vibes;)

Yeah, it's pretty good clearance.

For off-road work, the Liberty's achilles heel (compared to other Subaru models) is the approach and departure angles.

I've got a SubaXtreme bullbar on my Outback and this has improved the approach angle to equal that of a lifted L series. However, the rear bumper design results in a poor departure angle and hampers off-road performance.

Ok I took some measurements
Under the front bar = 40cm
Under sills behind the front wheels = 39.5cm
Under sills in front of the rear wheels = 40.5cm
Under the rear bar = 50cm
Under the diff = 31cm
thats at this point but once it settles down it may drop 15 to 20mm.

00outback, could you please put up a complete list of the things you've done for your lift and reasons for the things you did. I'm mainly interested in what has been posted in here, but if you've added anything else to date, throw it up aswell! :D
Cheers,

Edit/Adding:
I've come to realise that king springs don't do a lift spring for gen1 libs either.
I'm guessing they might do one for the gen2 outback struts (can anyone confirm?), thus another good reason for swapping to outback struts maybe?
If any, I'll be looking at Kings, as they are considerably cheaper where I am then Pedders.

I am also interested as too what you have installed. It looks really well done (good clearance) and is sorta what im aiming for with my '90 liberty as well. I have outback struts/springs ready and are currently waiting on 3" body lift to arrive. Fingers crossed for this weekend.

The list of things I have done
2in body lift and the 15in Forester rims which was already done when I bought the Liberty
KYB struts to suit gen 2 Outback
Pedders raised springs to suit
Goodyear Wrangler tyres

Reason for doing this was to gain more ground clearance for offroading the only other mod I want to do is the l-series low range gear.

Hope this helps, but I haven't done that much at all, just the few things I've listed.

Cheers mate,
I'll be putting in outback struts and maybe the springs in mine on top of a 3" lift when funds permit... Your lift looks pretty nice.

Sorry for the grave dig everybody...

Steve, how has the wear on your CV joints been with the pedders springs? They're a 50mm lift as opposed to king's 25mm and I'm having trouble deciding which ones to go...

Also, could you post a pick of your rear wheel? I wouldn't mind seeing what it looks like without the OB mount...

I have just purchased a 90' gx wagon and am wanting to lift it a couple of inches and then replace the wheels and tyres with something chunkier later on when the brand new tyres that are on it are a bit deader. I was hopeing you all may be able to give me some advise and price estimates as the car only cost me $2500 so any money spent needs to be kept in check.
Thanks in advance and sorry if this is rehashing old ground for you all. Emmett.

Lifted Suby

Post by libertarian » Wed Jul 01, 2009 1:16 pm

Guys i have now completed the first stage of my Lib gen2 wagon.
I do want to go further and get the body kift but at this stage very happy with the car now.
I will be doing a lot of travelling out west and wanted the extra height plus the subi revved too hard for my liking on the hwy as out west you do need to move along at a better pace.
Firstly i obtained a cheap set of 16" late model forester steelies and had fitted 215/65 R16 tyres
Fitted Gen2 outback front and rear struts and the rears has a set of king springs in them.
Car sits very nicely and is well controlled on or off road and i can carry all my junk and still drives well.
Speedo is out approx 10kmh at 100kmh so i will be fitting an outback speedo drive to reduce the difference
Engine is only doing 3000rpm at 110kmh and fuel consumption has reduced although i would go skinnier on the tyres next time i change them.
After a wheel alignment and fixing the overheating issues(thats a whole other story)car has performed excellently on a recent trip to Roma
I can reccomend this mod to anyone who just wants a little more height. The larger wheels do reduce the available torque on hills but on the upside i can run in 4th on the highway if i have to(3000rpm@100)while towing.
Also makes the low range more usable.

Sounds good above, pics would be great to see!
Yeah I've some similar thing, with speedo issues youre having, you have to open up the gearbox to change the speedo gear from outback to liberty, its not the dash doing that. The cheapest & easiest way of doing is to get this -

http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID ... rm=KEYWORD

I have that in my liberty, before it was 10 kays out and now its spot on.
Cheers
