LTurbo if he ever comes back from his mission in Panama - has a control box and wiring still sitting in his Lseries after he dropped his 4 speed electrical auto and went 5 speed manual. Tempt him enough and he may part with stuff ?
Would it not be easier to teach manual driving to the missus ? I went from not ever driving a manual to fitting a 4 speed to my first car after the auto died. Within hours of teaching meself on forgiving dirt roads I was blowing away others by afternoon !
4AT gearbox for Leone exist in Oz ?
Unfortunately Steptoe, teaching the wife how to drive a manual nowadays ain't so easy. I could of 10 years ago, but she has just developed the early stages of rheumatoid arthritis in the past 18 months. And the wrists were the first to be affected by it. Hence her preference for auto boxes in changing gears.
I drive a manual work van, but she'll give the driving a go, only if we're going along on the highway. But get her close to the city, she'll pull over and stop. Constant gear changing within city and suburbia soon starts killing her wrists.
I know of a 2wd Series 1 Lib 4sp auto that is being wrecked at the moment, and gearbox is still in it. I could get the bugger tomorrow. But I want to be real sure, that this transplant will work without on-going problems. Hence, my seeking of advice from my fellow peers. I know that sometimes trying to do a mix and match of mechanicals, can evolve into a period of long term grief in sorting it out. That's the last thing I want.
Has anybody heard from Lturbo lately ?? If his compatible 4speeder is available, yes I would be interested in making an offer.
