Broken key

Post by Busdriver » Fri Mar 21, 2008 8:23 pm

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove an ignition barrel and get the remains of a broken key out?
What I mean is do they come apart enough to get the rest of the key out, or can it be poked out from the other end or is it a locksmith job? Help!

this has happened to me...and the solution was...get a new barrell and matching keys

my rx7 did this to me and they could not cut a broken key, and it would prolly end up cheaper with a new barrel anyway

Just remove the barrel and get a new one from supercheap auto one or the like ,,, they sell them over here for around 20 dollars

Thanks guys, its my other halves Festiva and the key actually broke in my hand,so it was probably cracked already. Never would have thought of supacheep,so I will remove the barrel in the morning and if the key wont come out I will take the barrel down to them, thanks.
We were at the footy and I had to put the broken key in to get us home.

Lavington vs North Albury, Lavvy kicked 9 goals to 1 by quarter time and it was 13 goals to 3 at half time when we left, so not much of a game really.......
