Depends on your car?
Is it a carby, EFI or Turbo?
If its carby i wouldnt bother, the air filter is the least restrictive part of the intake.
EFI or turbo, a lot of people put on a pod filter but the gains overall if you dont shield it from engine bay heat would be minimal. I also question the actual filtering ability of a pod filter

Dont bother with the pod filter - they arent really going to give you too much more than what you have. I would however change your standard paper filter to a K and N filter - there are some gains in the breathing capability of the filter. Besides as mentioned, the standard airbox will shield your filter from heat.

It will be there. you might have to give it a bit of a rub with sandpaper.
Rotate the engine by hand with a breaker bar till you feel the compression of Top Dead Centre on cylinder no 1 (remove the sparkplug) At TDC on cyl 1, the timing marks should be at the pointer at the flywheel

Hi,
saw this thread and thought maybe hijack it (instead of starting a new one).
Has any L series owners used the Unifilter brand or K/N brand foam type filters ?
Was looking at getting one for my stock standard 92 Carbied.
Just wondering if its worth it and what gain (if any) in performance and economy.
Thanks

booma, unless your running a webber just leave your stock carby as it works well in factory form.
