Brumby Wheels
Brumby Wheels
Just joined the forum and need some advice. I picked up a Brumby ute from a mates farm and doing it up and want to put on some nice wheels on it. The tyrepower man said I can't get anything that will fit the 4x140 stud pattern. What's out there to get a better look? Not too keen on just steels rims but want something arounf 15 x 6 inch. Not going off road.

Welcome to insanity.. ah.. er.. i mean AUSubaru
How much are you willing to spend?
There are about 6 options when it comes to wheels for old subarus.
1. Performance Superlites - Around $200 a wheel

2. Speedy Desert Rats - Around $90 a wheel

3. Scorpions - $185 a wheel

4. Peugeot 504 Alloys - Find them at a wreckers, but be careful, some of these wheels use metric tyres, very expensive

EDIT
5. Crossbred Conversion Kit - Allows fitment of any Impreza/Liberty/Outback/Forester wheels

6. 6 Lug Conversion - Allows you to fit wheels of large 4WD's like Hilux, Pajero, Patrol ect. Technically not legal

Thanks rtcb65 for the last 2

Somewhere on the forum , it says about the 5 stud conversion so you have the choice of wrx wheels also. Then there is the choice of redoing the hubs to suit 6 stud as in cruiser, etc . Not sure on the legal side of this way though.

I think it would have been much easier to have 5 lug conversion and use Liberty or Impreza/Forester wheels - there is a sh*tload of them everywhere. Even can use 16" on your Brumby and would look good.

Go the 5 stud conversion for more options, and if you change your rims often enough, you'll have a bigger range... but if you want to keep it kinda near as original, jus look at those 4 stud rims.

Thats 1/3 the price of Scorpions, but scorpions have the correct offset and they look good too.subie_1st_timer wrote:those speedy wheels are way over priced, can pick them up for less than $60each brand new if you shop around
I'd like to try another group buy of 14" steel wheels with a larger offset so they sit in under the guards on the l series.

The wheel above is not a 504 rim. It is a 505 GTI rim, the 504's never came with 15" wheels, although the 504s do have good 14" wheels that fitkona480 wrote:wouldn't all 504 rims be the same ( metric or normal ) how do you know which it is?
why are they expensive? ( tyres )
The 505 wheels that are metric, are something like 390mm, which sits in between 15" and 16" (imperial) wheel sizes. It is very hard to get metric tyres, people get quoted around $300-400 a tyre. The size of the rim should be stamped on them some where, also if it has tyre on it, just check the tyre size to see if it is imperial or not.
If you buy Desert Rats with tyres you will quite often get them priced around $65. Without tyres and you should be up for $75.

You can get the 5 stud from Crossbred http://crossbredperformance.com
Otherwise the six stud way is a home job and also illegal unless maybe its for solely off-road use, i dunno.
