EJ prices in Perth

Post by GOD » Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:38 pm

What's a fair price to pay for a non-turbo EJ and associated bits to convert my L?

I've spoken to the Jap wreckers in Wangara - they offered me a 2.5L quad cam Forester half cut for $2500. A-Part in Malaga also said about $2500 for all the parts I need. I can't get a half cut or a wreck, because I've got nowhere to keep it.

Also found this one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0255487374. He wants another $200 for the ECU and $200 for freight. Thoughts?

Gen1 Lib's can be had as a complete car with panel damage for between $400 and $800 (depending on bidding competition on the day) at Pickle Damaged Car auctions.
These are complete cars with EJ22 motors. They have everything you need for a conversion except the conversion-specific parts obviously (gearbox adaptor plate, etc).

This is how Matatak, BrennyV, Alex's famous Wanky Wagon and my WackyBug all got their motors. Damaged Gen1 libs.

I won bidding on mine at $350. With the associated fees it was mine for about $411. That engine now lives in WackyBug.

The auction is on tomorrow at Welshpool, go there in the morning to browse through the cars and register if theres one of interest. The bidding itself starts about midday.
Looks like this one should be available;

Didn't realise they were that cheap. Now I just need to come up with an excuse to store another old car at my parents' place (I live on campus at uni in Kalgoorlie, which makes it a bit difficult to have projects).

Alternatively I have the EJ18 that came out of my 96 Impreza. Was gonna put it in my beach buggy but kinda need some cash atm. Runs well just needs timing seals which is no big job. Got a full wiring harness etc. Looking for $700ono for it if you are interested. Can even throw in the FWD gear box and fuel tank with pump etc if you want them.

I reckon a Lib wreck might be the way to go now, to get all the bits together.

No worries. I have basically everything there as I did a WRX conversion so had to change everything, full wiring loom and all.
