Immobilizer Q

Post by chriSTIan » Fri Jul 04, 2008 9:56 pm

Hey
I am fitting a remote immobilizer to my gen2 ,its an autowatch brand.
I want to know how to wire up the central locking to it.
The car has had an alarm in the past and there is a c/l motor in the drivers door.
Do i need a relay to operate the c/l?
Thanx
Chris

no you dont..they put the actuator on the drivers door cos the subaru central looking is a bitch to wire into...you will have trigger wire or wires from your alarm, just connect them to the actuator on the door and when you press the remote it will lock n unlock.if you have any problems just post a pic of the wiring diagram and i can piont the wires out for you

Tried that but that way there is no +ve going to the drivers actuator
Both wires(lock and unlock) from the alarm are -ve pulse.
But theres only 2 wires to the actuator

i had that...put one wire to one side for lock and the other to the other wire for unlock....i,m using cyclone alarm....ie,if you had 4 wires for lock/unlock and only 2 on actuator...put 2 wires to one side of actuator for lock and do the same on other wire for unlock...

Does the Central Locking wires on the drivers door go anywhere else??

I assume it has factory Central locking and they have added a slave motor into the drivers door aftermarket to use with a remote system for keyless entry.

If it is an aftermarket one then there should be 2 wires on it (4 if it's a master motor) giving one wire + and one - will make the motor move one way... reversed will make it move the other way. You would need to make a relay system using 2 relays. These are triggered by the alarm negative pulses and send the appropriate + or earth to each wire to make it lock or unlock.

If im sounding like im on the right track let me know and i can draw up a relay diagram for it. I think these will need to be change over relays and not your average one.

Good choice on the alarm btw... Autowatch is a great brand in my opinion and i have been using them in my cars ever since i have owned a car.

Ohh as a footnote- them lock and unlock wires on the alarm were never designed to handle the current of being hooked directly to a motor. They muct go through a relay or straight to the puclse wires on an existing Central locking module.

Dave
Thats what i thought ,that i'd need relays.
I remember seeing them on a previous car.
Wasn't sure if the autowatch had them built in.
Thanks for the offer Dave, the cars going to the pits next week, don't need it for that. When i get around to doing it i'll pm you.

No worries mate. Autowatch might actually sell a unit that does the same function of the relays... that might be something else to look into.
