Advise Needed
Hi,
I want to change my Leone Ea82 engine (non-turbo), I went shopping, I want a turbo engine and this is what I got:
1)Single Turbo Impreza Engine
2)Twin Turbo Legacy Engine
Check the pic’s need advise which one should I go for?
(I didn’t get the exact pic for the impreza engine but it looks something close to the pic I have uploaded)
Which is better?
Which is faster?
What are the pros and con’s of both?
I appreciate all the help
Thanks.

there are pros and cons with both.... the RS motor is obviously a fair bit older and obviously less reliable, where as the TT will be newer etc etc..
both have potential to make plently of power. it all depends on what exactly your after out of all of it in the end

G'day, If you put i larger turbo on the single you will get more power, but it will be at a higher rev when you hit boost. So maybe the Twin turbo would be better as then you have something to help the 2nd turbo. Just my 2cents worth. Cheers Ethan
Current Ride - 85 Touring wagon, All electrics, KYB long travel struts, Power Steer, Mags (swapping for sunnies).

Depending on the state, k's, condition etc, I'd go the single turbo.
Less hassle to worry about. , probably more reliable and easy and cheaper to upgrade later on.
Single turbo is alot more fun than a twin. More power at you foot.
Single would be easier to convert into your leonne as you could pick up a 82t cross member and drop the motor onto that(with minimal effort) where as with a TT you need to scallop the cross member to allow the secondary turbo to fit, as well as other mods to your engine mounts.
In the end its up to you. It isn't a small job, especially for someone who is relatively new to working on cars.
Saying that it is a lot of fun and a great experience, remember to allow between 1 weekend(with alot of help from people who have done it before) and 6 months, if your doing it yourself with minimal knowledge and a full time jobby.

Straight off the bat I'd say go the EJ20 single turbo. Its been done heaps before, has a wealth of knowledge on this site and one will be done soon on a WA member's car - Wanky wagon. There's a lot of general chat about it at the start, but it should be underway soon.
Don't be fooled by the amount of time it will take for these boys to get this done - they're probabily the quickest back yard converters around here that I know of and there's a group of them, not just one bloke trying to work it out.
The biggest part of any engine upgrade for the L is wiring, with or without a turbo.
Hope this helps you out.
Cheers

I have a twin turbo half cut and the biggest advantage of it is the torque and the fact that you don't have to wait for the single turbo to spool up. Also apart from the cross members and the wiring to worry about (wiring diagrams aren't so easy to find) there are the 1000s of vacum lines. So as previously discussed single turbo is easier but the twin is fun but if you wait a few months hopefully you might be able to see my conversion in steps.

We go the Single Turbo Way
Thanks for all the help, I think I’ll go the single turbo way.
I pulled the Ea82 motor and the Gearbox out.
Ill upload the pics later on.
I need to take the Gearbox and the Ej motor to the engineers so they can make the adapter plate, I understand its half inch (1/2”) thickness. Wish I could get ready made ones down here….
Another question is what about the fuel supply? I need an Ej fuel pump right? will i have the original fuel pump and the Ej fuel pump?
