A whinge - tool prices AUS V's USA
http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/vehicle- ... tools.html
check out some of the prices of tools on this page
I was comparing the valve keeper hose , the valve spring compressor and a few other things , Brand for brand, part number for part number between the USA and here.
The valve keeper hose Lisle 19700 US$7.80 found here on a website at the reasonable price off $A32 +GST
The two piece valve spring remover punch with magnetic pick ups on it, under US$29 google it on an Australian website , I think was $A132 + GST
These US guys do not sell to outside, and two lots of postage to a US contact then off to land of Oz may just almost offset buying stuff off them.
I know there are middle men and import duties, taxes and profit margins , BUT RIP OFF or what in this country ?

I don't even bother checking local prices for specialist boat stuff (silicon bronze fasteners, etc) or BMW stuff - I just order it in from the US. I know the BMW stuff is as low as 20% of (that's OF not OFF) the local price. I ordered a new water pump last Wednesday - it arrived Monday am - $59 and $37 freight. I started doing this after I got charged $501 for a throttle position switch for the M5 - and found that I could get it for $50 in the US.
I had to buy a couple of small bits locally when I rebuilt the M5 engine - eg I forgot the stretch to spec crank bolt and bought it locally for $35 ($7 in the US). My new piston rings were made in Germany to order, shipped to the US then shipped here. Again - a fraction of the local price.
Too many rip-offs locally.
