i will be gettin a liberty very soon and was wondering how these AWD's go in the sand. i assume they dont have a low range?
also i know gound clearance could be a poblem - but thats what lift kits are for.
i hope i can find a manual AWD. (havent seen like any fs in the past couple weeks.)
any comments would be great
They go very well offroad especially in the sand. I'm not talking from direct personal experience (although I will be soon!) but I've seen alot of Aspro's car flogging around offroad. Very very capable and this is without even adding a rear LSD yet.
Also....ALOT of the AWD Manual Libs actually do come with low range, although I think this might only be the wagons? Either way the dual range gearboxes are not impossible to come by. Aspro is running one of these (3.9 ratio dual range AWD from a Lib).
Having owned both the auto and manual in turbo and non turbo derivatives i can say with either transmission you wont be sorry, the auto is great and with a centre lock mod are pretty much fool proof. Many of us here have manual versions in both turbo and non turbo and highly recomend them.
cheers for the info fellas.
i still havent come across any manuals in the paper or online - within my 4k price range anyway. a few autos - my dad checked out one that was pretty good apart from $ but it also had adjustable suspension. the seller reckons it can go up like a couple inches. wouldnt even need a lift kit then(note: need). does this come with many?
might have to seriously look at some more autos then even though id prefer a man for a daily driver.
This is the difference between standard low range and l_series low range the wagon is std and ran out of puff on the second last clip worth doing if you go off road a lot.
