Hey, this is my Brumby Targa.
http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn15 ... 71/Brumby/
to date are minimal, been working on getting a good set of bars made up to carry the bike, and my ocean ski. Have also been rust hunting.
I bought it sight unseen off the intamanet, and decided, against my etter judgement to trust the owner when he said all the rust had been found, treated, or removed, and new two pack paint sprayed.
So, I found out that this translates to, its full of rust, which i covered in fibreglass, then put a dodgey coat of black acrylic over.
The front of the tray was worst. My method of fixing it is not how the original designers planned it. I scalloped in a 5 mm steel plate at a 45 degree angle, so that water could not pool in the pinch weld anymore. Then on the inside, I ground out what was left of the pinch weld, and welded on a steel strap so that the top of this weld, met the penetration from the top of the angles steel in the back. Its as strong as f*&%k.
Then I made up some bars, a front permanent one, and a removable rear one.
Once I have the body sorted, I will strip out all the bars and interior, sand blast it, paint it, and then 2"lift and EJ 25.
Brumby Update
I really good idea i read here is to weld the lift kit in thus stoping snapping bolts and threading captive nuts. It would pay to do this before you paint it but. Especially if the welder is free to use.

Yup my 4" lift in the wagon was welded in. Definately worth doing.Matt wrote:I really good idea i read here is to weld the lift kit in thus stoping snapping bolts and threading captive nuts. It would pay to do this before you paint it but. Especially if the welder is free to use.
