gearbox speedo input not working????

Post by 2coupedup » Mon Mar 15, 2010 9:02 pm

ok so... ea81, 4sp d\r, digi dash...

cable is fine, speedo cluster works (drill on speedo cable lol)...

next, gearbox input/output... pull cable out, put flathead screwdriver in, spin wheels = screwdriver doesnt spin???

well then... spin wheels, assist screwdiver to spin, yey it spins (one turn the stops again...)

anybody ever had this problem, anyone know an easy fix???

I second that above - stripped..
Only way to find out is take the cable out and get a screw driver and try turn it around - if it does - its likely its stripped.

Cheaper option buy a GPS with a speedo in it ( and for those reading in the US, u call them your Speedo, we call them Speedo's, not talking swim wear). Subaru mustve fitted the speedo cog first then everything else into the boxes. Other cars the cog can come out on the cable

well that sucks... gps yeh but wont pass rego next week...
have another g/box at the olds house but has broken 2nd gear, so i gues i'll havta strip 2 boxes n swap parts out....

can i get to the gear by just taking the back of the box off or do i have to split it down the guts aswell???

oh and just to make it interesting my budget is a whole $1 so cant get someone to do it for me and cant buy parts... or i can and then cant afford rego lol...
