Subis are awesome where no or little suspesnion travel is needed, ie..sand.

Just my 2c, ive moved on from subaru 4x4ing, i had a very highly modified l-series and it no where even comes close to my new patrol in offroad capabilities.

now im gonna go run away and hide!

yes there is nothing worse than having to go flat out up a steep rutted out hill just got to hold on. never broken anything mechanical though. just alot of those stupid indicators that stick out the side.
yes i have started to move on out of my subaru in to a vit it is so much more comfortable off road better low range it is awesome having at least one live axle and a low range to go with it. i love the subaru and will be sad when it goes but it cant take to the spots i want to go. i get the biggest looks when i come down the street. ill just have to get another liberty for the road.

Hi holden26
I had 27" tyres on my wagon and had to cut the guards and give the fire wall a tap with a hammer i also had king springs on it.
With all that i had more clearance than a standard cruiser but you will never keep up to one in very rutted hills, there wheel travel is just to good. When you mean keep up with a cruiser do you mean mud holes, rock climbing, hill climbs or sand driving?

Don't get me wrong i love going up places getting to the top and there are some big boys there and they say how the f^*#k did you get that up here.

With an auto and stock motor and 27" tyres you will struggle more.

If you are thinking about going to manual i would save a bit longer and do the ej22 conversion as well with the efi motor in you car it will be a lot easier to do.
With the ej you will love the power not just of road you will be able to light up the tyres easily on the black stuff even with the 27s on:twisted:.

The L series is a fun car to go off-roading with and like the others i do miss mine:( plus parts are cheap to get.

If you keep an eye out you can pick them up cheap with all the work done including ej22

maybe if your tryin to keep up with a coily variety but if you playin with a earlier one runnin standard leafs you keep up no worries and you'll probly get up hills that they won't.
you might find yourself getting pulled out of mud holes a little more cause of tire size every runs big stinkin tires so they are getting deeper and deeper just dont be afraid to walk the holes

hi guys , Sorry im a newbie with subi's as i just purched my first 93 L series sportswagon. I have been searching EVERYWHERE for a 2" or 3" body lift but I cannot seem to find anybody that is still making them. If someone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated

can you do an auto box with an EJ anyway???
having an EA wont allow you to go a hell of a lot of places, fun but you wouldnt follow a cruiser in soft sand or mud.
but with an EJ, 4" lift and 15" at's you pretty much could...like me :)
