L series High beam trigger.... which is it?

Hi guys,

So i'm installing HID kits to my quad lights:) they consist of two H4 with high low beams and two H1 for high beam only. I wired the H4 kit already and it works fine. As most Hid kit its working with only one side or the factory head light/globe connector.

So i want to use the other side for the H1's so that i don't need to cut a splice.
Only thing is i can't figure out which is the trigger for the high beam. Looking into the plug and using a test light i see that the middle blue connector is earth, the RH RED has power when i flick to both on high and low beam and the LH YELLOW connector has power only on low beam...

Now if i connect the hid light to the RED i have the light constantly on and when i connect it to the yellow its only on on low beam.

How do i get it to turn on only when i flick it to high beam?
Pretty sure it would be the same wire trigger used to get spot light to go on only on high beam. What have those who set up there spot light that way done?

Ok, your test light is giving you a dicky reading. You will be getting a back feed through the hi-beam indicator in the dash

So the red on the right in your picture, is your constant positive, and the yellow on the left is your switched negative

ahhh! back feed from dash light indicator !! some may recall I (and many others) had problems in hooking up a relay to trigger driving lights. My relays were triggering from a small 1.4V on high beam circuit while on low beam only - it's like Subaru feed a trickle through highs just to prevent them from blowing as soon as they get 12V. I used a pair of diodes between high beam at the light and the relay for my driving lights to absorb the 1.4 V from triggering my sensitive relay

So what you have to do is connect the positive wire of your hid to the positive common terminal (what you have labeled red) of the h4 connector and connect the negative wire of your hid to the negative switched terminal (what you have labeled yellow) of the h4 connector.

looks like the way to deal with Subies funny switching, same way I sorted my fan power tapping issue - not just use the pos for triggeriing, use also the earth from the trigger device.

Who has got a quad light system on their L series???? Ohhh are you talking for those with the quad lights on the brumby's??

Basically all i did was to follow the instructions to install the h4 globes using the one existing RH headlight plug.

Then for the H1, because the are a single beam and only need a positive and negative power source, I made a loom that would connect both h1 in parallel (I think) and hook it up to the RED and Yellow terminal of the factory LH headlight plug:)
