An 83 Coupe

Post by 85wrx » Thu Nov 09, 2006 8:39 pm

Been on the forums for a while and have decided to show what I am up to in the subaru world. All started out purchasing 2 x Coupes off ebay costing $200 and $250 ea. Kept the better one as a starting base and stripped the other of all parts required to make a nice street orientated car. I am going the different route of most her and will lower the car slightly to suit the 16x7 mags that have been purchased. I believe it is much more rewarding to complete the work your self rather than pay for someone to do it.
Things completed on the car:
Total respray with the addition of series 2 WRX bonnet scoop.(boot spoiler to be fitted later.)
Pair of sports buckets, sports wheel and stereo.
Rear 5 stud conversion with liberty 14x5.5 mags(front will be done this weekend)
Things to do:
EJ20 from Impreza with awd box.
Fit boot spoiler when painted.
16x7 speedy lite fins 205/50R16 tyres.
Re do the interior??

Wil post some more pics after the weekend hopefully with the 5 stud conversion to the front completed.

For interest some of the Subaru's that I have built up and enjoyed over the last 15 years:
1981 MY Sedan EA81T, 5 speed DR 4WD, 14 Marques, 2" lift kit.
1985 L Sedan EJ20T 5 speed AWD, 15" Hornets, EVO3 boot spoiler.
1991 L Wagon EJ20T 5 Speed AWD, 16" ALT rims, 4 spot brakes. (This one I wish I never sold.) If I get the chance will post some photos of these.

Hope you all enjoy.

Dude, you have no idea how much I am loving your project!!!! Keep us posted!!!

I'm going down this path soon myself. I have already owned an EJ20 powered MY coupe and want nothing more than to own another, albeit with better panel, paint and finish!

Very impressed with your work!

Thanks for all the great comments. The paint job I completed in my shed. Bought the car 7 months ago and have completed what you see since then. The biggest issue I have is what I start on friday when I get home has to be completed before I go to work on monday. 3 hrs this afternoon I have managed to pull all the suspension out to complete the 5 stud on the front. Will post a photo over the weekend when completed.

As promised here are the latest pictures from what was completed over the weekend. Completing the 5 stud conversion on the front was much aesier than doing the rear end last week. The front took about 10 hours total.

Enjoy Darryl
