4spd DR box - Seal at front?

Post by Matatak » Mon Sep 10, 2007 3:17 pm

can anyone tell me if there is a seal or something at the front of the 4sd DR manual boxes found in MYs that can leak oil into the bell housing??

just pulled mine off the engine and had a fair bit of oil around the bell housing with some sitting down the bottom.....but there wasnt any to be found over the clutch.

the rear main on the engine is definetely leaking also but i need to no aobut the boxes and if oil can be coming outta them into the bell housing as i dont want to put it onto the EJ if its gonna leak out and possibly screw my clutch up

so i just read something that mentioned there is a seal at the front but the box wuld need to be split to get to it...any truth in this

all i can see at the front is a plate with 3 bolts in it that kinda seems like almost a bearing for the input shaft and holdin it up in the right position

It more then like just the rear main on the engine, as the front main on the gearbox is actually above the oil level thus it only can like when you are dring down hills....
