Awesome Custom Subaru Bullbar

Post by Saeble » Tue Jun 10, 2008 11:52 pm

(well I think it's awesome but thats a personal opinion and I'm biased, 'cos I made it).

Image

particulars are as follows :

- 2.5mm galv steel plate
- CNC cut brackets and bumper sections (inc cut out Subaru name)
- full bumper replacement, uses existing mounting points, allows for a 30mm travel on the bolts in the event of a carpark nudge type low speed impact, you can simply readjust it post hit. relies on the bolt tension to hold it in place on the long continuous slot hole it mounts with, (driven over some rough ass roads and it hasn't moved yet )
- uses original indicator reflector units with amber tinted bulbs, translucent white covers, original SS screws.
- integrated towpoints
- fits in about an hour thanks to having to remove the sodding +wheels+, to get out the inner guard, to get out the airbox, to get to the bolts, to get the bumper out, plus all the smog gear and ancillary plumbing... I love Subarus... but really... some things test a guys patience
- black satin epoxy paint
- number plate was never re-fitted, had bullbar on for ages, sans #plate, no cop has even noticed so far.. in fact they pulled someone over right next to me for having an obstructed rear number plate... ;D
- low top bat does not impede vision at all and does not hinder headlight beam at all... (unless you like shooting down aircraft from your roof mounted machine gun...)

...and you lucky bastards... I made enough bits to make a second one if anyone wants it, make me an offer I can refuse and I'll stick the sucker together and fit it for you. I'll part trade for my missing parking light (see pic).

Also, I love Subies, so if you're in my neck of the woods and you want something to add to your ride, look me up, I'd love to do some stuff for you guys. I'm in the process of building roof racks with an integrated mount for a pair of Lightforce Blitzes (240mm 760,000 candle power driving lights).

um ,is the up rights plate on edge ?

thats a big NO NO if it is with the cops in every state , go and ask some one that makes them ( have a good look at ARB bars )

apart from that I like your work

you forget how little most cops actually know about the ADRs these days, they'd probably ping me for tyres or something they have half a clue about, long before they pick on the bullbar

I'll add rolled strips if I'm asked to. Any potential pedestrian carnage, or indeed car carnage is going to hit the bars or the bumper sections long before the uprights get involved. The bars project well forward of all the uprights. There is virtually nil chance of any chance of a the uprights having any real input to any impact to the car. The old flat face bull bar 'designs' were a 'line of axes', not mine.. :) I realise why the laws are as they are...

I just tend not to follow stupid rules just 'cos they are there.

IMO the bar would look better if you covered the flat bar on edge .
apart from that 90 % from me :)

:)

Did you notice where the main upright sits ?

If I plated it, I'd impinge on the headlights.

There is always method to my madness.

You sure that's you talking or just tradition, if every bullbar was still plate profiles without capping, would you think the same ? :)

Oh and for the record, there's bugger all sideways flex, plating the edges is purely a supposed safety feature.
