Air filter problems
Hey everyone umm question i got a performance filter (cone shape) ffrom a friend and i took off the standard airfilter of the my subaru Liberty gx and i disconnected that plug that grey lookin one and put the performance filter on its sounds sweet wen reving but wen u want to drive it takes a while and then after 5 minutes the car woulndnt start again. and it lid up the CHECK ENGINE in my dash. What do i do and how much will it cost

Sounds like you have unplugged the AFM (air flow meter)
Put your standard air filter back on, and remove the resonators that are up in the left hand guard. This will give you the same performance, if not more than a pod filter. Cost is zero

if you disconnected AFM - the engine will not start at all.
Make sure these hoses are connected under the tubing that goes behind the inlet manifold.

Not true, you only need a little bit of oil, say from an oiled filter, to stop the AFM from worlking the way it should.bobbyjimmy wrote:No, only over oiled = bad AFM.
To clean your AFM use some carbie cleaner followed by some compressed air - try not to give it the full blast, go gentle.
